Bulletin: The Internet Changes Everything

Yeah I know the Internet’s important. Big deal. So what’s new?

A lot in fact… If you’re a seller, the bottom line is that there is no other media that even approaches the power of the Web when it comes to selling real estate. Not TV, not radio, and definitely not print. Think about it, at the end of the day a real estate sale is more about information than about bricks and mortar, grass and trees. For property information, educated consumers today turn to the Internet first. Here’s a sobering fact for you…

  • The National Association of Realtors has found that as of 2008 88% of home buyers research available homes on the Internet, in fact they start their home buying process on the Internet.
  • That’s 9 out of 10 people research property for sale or rent on the Internet!

So how is your property being displayed? How comprehensive is your realtor’s Web strategy. The Internet is really about the free flow of information. Does your broker embrace that philosophy? You’d better hope so or you’d better choose another broker.

Here’s a great post about “covenants, conditions and restrictions” known as CCR’s, and how they might effect the property you own, or are considering purchasing, here in the Hamptons.

So while it’s not news to anybody that the Internet is important we thought we’d take this inaugural blog post to introduce hamptonsmarketwire.com and start the conversation about Hamptons real estate and the role of technology in specific the Internet. Hamptonsmarketwire.com is brought to you by us, Rosehip Partners, LLC, the team who gave you the highly successful hamptonsrentals.com and now hamptonsproperties.com. Hamptonsmarketwire.com will follow all the local and regional real estate and market news as well as the Hamptons scuttlebutt, but with an emphasis on technology and the Internet and the roles they play in marketing and selling real estate. Our goal is to make our customers and clients smarter about buying and selling real estate as well as to have a little fun with it. Why us? Simple, since our real estate business lives or dies by the Web we feel qualified to hold forth on the subject. And we’re all local to the Hamptons so we know a thing or two about that as well.

Stay tuned, more to come…
